Proper Installation Methods Extend Your Bearing Service Life
1. Instructions for Rolling Bearings
(1) Force shall be applied evenly during bearing installation. Do not hammer directly. In case of a large interference fit, heat the bearing in an automatically temperature-controlled air heating furnace or oil furnace, and strictly limit the heating temperature below 120°C.
(2) Bearings fitted with nylon cages can operate continuously and stably for a long time at -40°C ~ 120°C. Continuous operation at 150°C shall not exceed 4 hours, and transient peak temperature can reach 180°C.
(3) The warehouse for bearing storage shall be clean and dry. Bearings shall not be stored together with chemical products. The relative humidity shall not exceed 65%, and bearings shall not be placed directly on the ground.
2. Installation and Application of Deep Groove Ball Bearings
Continuous operation at 150°C shall not exceed 4 hours, and transient peak temperature shall not exceed 180°C.
(3) The warehouse for bearing storage shall be clean and dry. Bearings shall not be stored together with chemical products. The relative humidity shall not exceed 65%, and bearings shall not be placed directly on the ground.
(4) Stock bearings shall be cleaned and repacked with anti-rust packaging every year.
3. Installation and Application of Angular Contact Ball Bearings
(1) Force shall be applied evenly during bearing installation. Do not hammer directly. In case of a large interference fit, heat the bearing in an automatically temperature-controlled air heating furnace or oil furnace, and strictly limit the heating temperature below 100°C.
4. Installation and Application of Spherical Roller Bearings
(1) Users shall select appropriate fits and radial internal clearance according to service requirements. Verify the bearing model number immediately after unpacking.
If grease needs to be filled into the bearing before installation, the grease must be clean and applied in proper quantity.
(2) Avoid direct hammering on the end faces of inner ring, outer ring and rollers during installation to prevent cracking of the inner ring or middle/small ribs. Normally, heat the bearing in mineral oil to 90°C ~ 100°C and mount it onto the main shaft immediately. Local flame heating of bearings is strictly prohibited. If hot mounting is difficult, special mounting sleeves shall be adopted.
(3) Bearings shall be equipped with effective sealing and dust-proof devices and reliable lubrication during operation; oil starvation is not allowed.
(4) The bearing warehouse shall be clean, dry and pollution-free. Bearings shall not be stacked on the ground with intact packaging. Bearings stored for more than one year must be re-cleaned and re-oiled.
5. Installation and Application of Spherical Thrust Roller Bearings
(1) Clean the bearing oil seal and coat with clean high-quality lubricant before installation.
(2) Force shall be applied evenly during installation; hammering is forbidden. If the interference fit is large, heat the bearing in mineral oil to 90°C ~ 100°C and install it immediately.
(3) The bearing storage warehouse shall be clean with relative humidity not exceeding 65%.
(4) Stock bearings shall be cleaned and re-oiled every year, and the oil seal packaging shall remain intact.
(5) Bearings shall be equipped with good sealing and dust-proof devices during operation, and operating conditions shall be inspected regularly.
6. Installation and Application of Cylindrical Roller Bearings
(1) This type of bearing is separable. Users can adjust internal clearance as required during installation.
(2) Clean bearings thoroughly with gasoline or kerosene before use and maintain adequate lubrication.
(3) Press the bearing into mating components during installation; hammering is strictly prohibited.
(4) Bearings shall be stored in clean, ventilated and moisture-free areas. Bearings for long-term storage shall be subjected to regular anti-rust treatment.
7. Installation and Application of Thrust Ball Bearings
(1) Remove bearing seals, clean the bearing and apply clean high-quality lubricant before installation.
(2) Force shall be applied evenly during installation; hammering is forbidden. If the interference fit is large, heat the bearing in mineral oil to 90°C ~ 100°C and install it immediately.
