Hazards of Overdue Service of Air Compressor Filter Elements
The filter devices of air compressors mainly include oil filter, air filter and oil-air separator. The performance of these three filters greatly affects the stable operation of air compressors. Each filter element has a specified service life and requires regular maintenance. Continuous use beyond the service life will degrade the performance of the air compressor.
(1) Oil Filter
Material: High-precision imported filter paper
Service life: Normally 1,500 ~ 2,000 hours, adjustable according to ambient conditions.
Set alarm value for oil filter blockage: 1.0–1.4 bar.
Hazards of Overdue Use:
Insufficient oil return leads to excessive exhaust temperature and shortens the service life of lubricating oil and oil-air separator element. It results in inadequate lubrication of the main unit and drastically reduces the service life of the airend. If the filter element ruptures, unfiltered oil containing massive metal particle impurities flows into the main unit and causes severe damage.
(2) Air Filter
Material: High-precision imported filter paper
Service life: Normally 1,500 ~ 2,000 hours, adjustable according to working conditions.
Set alarm value for air filter blockage: -0.05 bar.
Hazards of Overdue Use:
Insufficient unit air output disrupts production; excessive resistance of the air filter increases unit energy consumption. The actual compression ratio rises, raising the load of the main unit and shortening its service life. Once the filter element breaks, foreign matter enters the main unit, which may cause rotor seizure or even permanent scrapping.
(3) Oil-Air Separator Element
Material: High-precision imported glass fiber
Service life: Normally 3,000 ~ 4,000 hours, adjustable according to ambient conditions.
Set alarm value for oil separator blockage: 0.8–1.0 bar. Every 1 bar increase in differential pressure leads to a 7% rise in energy consumption.
Hazards of Overdue Use:
Poor separation efficiency increases oil consumption and operating costs. Severe oil shortage may trigger main unit failures. Higher oil content at the compressed air outlet impairs the operation of downstream purification equipment and causes malfunction of air-consuming machinery. Rising resistance after blockage increases the actual exhaust pressure of the unit and boosts energy consumption. After failure, detached glass fiber mixes into lubricating oil, shortening the service life of the oil filter element and accelerating normal wear of the main unit.
