Types of Inverter Panel Faults
1. No Display
Fault causes for no display:
Fault of the panel power supply circuit (short circuit);
Fault of panel connecting wires;
Defective components related to the three essential operating circuits of the CPU: CPU power supply circuit, clock circuit and reset circuit (such as damaged crystal oscillator and leakage of small electrolytic capacitors on the reset circuit);
Short circuit, open circuit or other faults of the driver IC (bit selection driver IC), CPU and associated components in the drive circuit.
2. Incomplete Display
There are two types of incomplete display:
(1) Missing Segments
Missing segments mean the 8-segment digital tube fails to display complete numbers or letters. This problem is caused by open circuits or increased resistance of components in the drive circuit such as driver ICs, driving triodes and driving resistors. It can also result from CPU faults such as no signal output.
(2) Missing Digits
Missing digits refer to the situation where a certain digital tube position on the panel fails to light up as expected. The digit display is controlled by the bit selection drive circuit, which consists of driver ICs, related circuits and the CPU. Potential faults include damaged driver ICs or associated components, no signal output or failure of the CPU.
3. Extra Segments Displayed
Extra segments displayed means certain segments light up when they are supposed to be off. This fault is generally caused by short circuits of driver ICs or driving triodes, and CPU failures may also lead to this phenomenon.
